About Us

Our History

Colegio Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, located in Puerto Nuevo, San Juan, Puerto Rico, is an educational institution affiliated with the parish of the same name. Founded in 1950 by Father Juan Aguiló, this school was born in response to the needs of the parish community. For many years, it enjoyed the invaluable support of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart.

From its modest beginnings, the school has experienced continuous growth. Today, it stands out as a duly incorporated institution, registered and accredited by the Puerto Rico Department of State. In a relatively short period, it has significantly integrated itself into the educational community of Puerto Nuevo.

Colegio Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe offers a wide range of services and amenities for its students, including five student organizations, athletic teams, classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards, access to digital books, two computer labs, a nurse's office, a cafeteria, a library, and counseling services.

Misión

It aims to be directed toward the comprehensive development of students, stimulating logical and critical thinking in line with globalization, considering inclusion, equity, diversity, student and family life; and educating values in human life, framed and inspired by the Gospel.

Vision

  • Our vision is based on forming and developing students in the Catholic Christian faith, aware that they have been created in the image and likeness of God.

  • We focus on creating a comprehensive educational community that addresses intellectual and emotional needs that align with our mission and promotes a culture of caring service to those in need.

  • We develop leadership skills and develop their commitment to building a better world by pursuing academic excellence. We develop curriculums, competencies, and skills tailored to the needs of students, their environment, and their intellectual, personal, spiritual, and emotional capacities, in line with the Department of Education's curriculum and Catholic Education Standards.

  • We firmly believe in and focus on improving the school's infrastructure by streamlining technological processes so that our students possess the knowledge and skills necessary to develop holistically in our society.

Philosophy

The school's philosophy is based on the Pastoral Letter and the Global Educational Compact on the Education of Catholic Christian Schools in Puerto Rico. It focuses on respect and empathy for human beings, the defense of their fundamental rights, the promotion of an appropriate hierarchy of values, adherence to Christian morality, the cultivation of human relationships, and the encouragement of creativity.
